Lenno si affaccia sul lago su un’insenatura così suggestiva da essere stata battezzata Seno di Venere dal cardinale Angelo Maria Durini. Fu proprio il porporato a far edificare nel XVIII secolo, sul promontorio del Lavedo che chiude il golfo, la famosa Villa del Balbianello.
L’accesso più suggestivo e comodo alla villa avviene via lago e ciò permette di ammirare il particolare giardino a terrazze, realizzato sul rocky promontory. The morphology of the land has affected the structure, not Italian and not English like the time: the result is truly unique.
